The Government of Ireland have offered scholarships opportunities for international students that are going to pursue a one year study for the master or PhD degree at Irelands’ Institutions for the academic year 2023.

Who is eligible to apply for this scholarship?

  • Students that are a resident of non-European Union countries or European Economic Area countries
  • Students that are not a resident of the United Kingdom 
  • Students that have received an offer from eligible Irish universities for one-year taught master degree program, or one year of doctorate research program before the closing date.

What is the criteria of selection?

  • Academic excellence, achievements, and work experiences
  • Institution, level, and field of study chosen by applicants
  • Potential social or developmental benefits
  • Country of origin
  • The underrepresented applicants and applicants that have not to receive any scholarship or funding before are more likely to be chosen.

What degrees are offered in this scholarship?

This scholarship is offered for master programs, and doctoral degree programs that are offered by the eligible Irish universities.

What are the scholarship benefits?

  • Living allowance for one year
  • Full tuition fee waiver

How long is the duration of scholarship?

The International Education Scholarship program benefits are going to be given to the awardees for one year of study.

How to apply?

  • Apply for one of the study programs in the eligible Irish universities
  • Accept an offer letter from the university before the closing date
  • Register for an account at the scholarship online application portal provided by the Government of Ireland official website
  • Apply for the scholarship by submitting the completed application form and documents based on requirements including Personal Statement, two references, and an offer letter from an eligible university on the eligible program and level before the closing date.

How does the process of selection go?

  • The applicants that have submitted the application form before the application deadline and are proven to be eligible for the scholarship will be ranked based on the selection criteria. The top 12 applicants will automatically be selected to receive the scholarship
  • The rest of the applicants will be selected based on the institution, level, the field of study, potential, and country of origin
  • The applicants that did not fulfill the requirements of the personal statements will automatically be eliminated from the selection
  • The result of the selection process is expected to be released on 1 June 2023
  • The course program will be started around September or October 2023

How many applicants are going to be selected for this program?

There will be 60 scholarships given to the applicants that passed the final selection for this academic year.

When is the deadline for application?

The application and documents submission process will be closed on 24 March 2023 at 5 PM Irish time (GMT).
