Term: Fall 2025 & Winter 2026 (September 2025 to April 2026)

This role reports to the Senior Director, SLC Financial Planning & Strategy (FP&S). The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the needs of the team; with a particular focus on developing financial reporting and analysis of financial results. The role will require the Co-op to operate cross functionally across SLC and the broader affiliate platform.

 

What will you do?

 

  • Support the production of quarterly reports (Quarterly Business Review and Earnings Prep), monthly forecasting, strategic and business planning, including creating and ensuring the accuracy of key charts and visuals leveraging “book of record” sources.
  • Support in maintaining of a competitor database of key metrics ensuring accuracy and completeness of data. Helping with loading this data to Power BI and checking the dashboards for accuracy.
  • Document routine processes to pass on knowledge learned to the next Co-op.
  • Conduct targeted research assignments to help the team understand what is going on in the industry and within SLC. Examples of this type of research include:
  • Gaining an understanding of how our Alternative Asset Management peers (Blackstone, Apollo, Ares etc.) approach the insurance distribution channel.
  • Using AI tools, looking up recent mentions from our real estate pillar, BGO, to determine progress of a fund in which BGO is raising capital.
  • Additional accountabilities as assigned by the Senior Director including ad-hoc project support.

 

What do you need to succeed?

 

  • University degree in Business, Economics, Accounting/Finance, or business-related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, including ability to model, use advanced functions and interpret large amounts of data.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team environment across multiple sites in a rapidly growing business.
  • Strong research, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Initiative-taker with superior analytical skills related to financials.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation tools preferred.

 

Preferred skills:

 

  • Very strong attention to detail and commitment to reporting accuracy.
  • Very strong organisation skills and demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve issues that may arise.
  • Ability to work independently on assignments in an agile environment with appropriate judgement while demonstrating resourcefulness and perseverance in solving problems and removing roadblocks.
