We currently have a herd of 550 milkers and milk an average of 450 year round. The overall role for the right applicant will be to plan, organise, coordinate and perform farming operations to breed and raise dairy cattle for quality milk production. The right applicant must be self motivated, must be able to work independently and as a part of the team, with very good communication and time management skills. Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or higher equivalent with at least 3 years recent relevant work experience Duties for Dairy Cattle Farmer: - Duties include general operational management of the daily operation with minor supervision, pasture management, milk harvesting, feeding management, administrative tasks & general maintenance of plant & equipment. - Advanced knowledge in animal husbandry, animal welfare, dairy production, and work health and safety. - The position may also require the ability to train new members of the team. - This is a full-time position which will involve working 2 weekends a month with a flexible roster. About the Role - Job Tasks and Responsibilities: Participate in herd health, calf nutrition, milking performance and implementation of the breeding programmer. Complete herd records.
