What to Expect
Disclaimer: This posting is for both the Spring and/or Summer terms. Please accurately state your availability when applying. The Spring Internship is expected to start around January 2024 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e. through May 2024). The Summer Internship is expected to start around May 2024 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e. through August 2024). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site. Please consider before submitting an application.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time depending on their academic standing.

Site Reliability Engineer Internship
- The Cell Software team is responsible for building software solutions that allow the company to redefine manufacturing and production. We focus on implementing effective software advances, distributed fault-tolerant computing, and modern user- experience to manufacturing systems throughout Tesla. Our stack is built on top of Kubernetes, Helmfile, Ansible, GitHub Actions for automation procedures and Grafana, Prometheus, etc. for monitoring.
Manufacturing Software Engineer Internship
- Tesla is re-thinking how batteries are made from the ground up. We’re designing new factories, new equipment, new processes and new software to rapidly scale battery manufacturing, globally. The primary bottleneck to Tesla’s future expansion (and the transition to sustainable transport and energy storage) is our ability to produce and procure batteries – that’s why we’re innovating in-house, with our collection of world-class engineers, to redefine the industry. Software, data and automation all play a huge part in this strategy.
Software Engineering Internship
- Tesla is seeking passionate software engineering students who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to apply CS concepts to real world projects. Our Software Engineering teams are responsible for many of Tesla’s innovations, including Autopilot, Supercharging, and Infotainment!
What You’ll Bring
Pursuing a BS, MS or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering dregree.
Please note that the skills listed below are suggestions and not strict prerequisites
Site Reliability Engineer Internship
- Understanding and experience with Linux fundamentals.
- Understanding with modern infrastructure services, distributed systems, microservices, and software design at a high-level.
- Experience working with containers and container management systems.
- Understanding of cyber security principles and best practices.
- Experience in managing configuration changes across a large set of distributed production systems.
- Experience in high level language such as Python, Go and/or Java.
- Experience with Bash scripting.
Manufacturing Software Engineer Internship
- Be a Full-stack Software Engineer.
- Strong programming fundamentals: Go is preferred (https://go.dev/)
- Or knowledge on any other language, e.g., Python, Java, C#, etc.
- React, TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Kafka as distributed event application.
- SQL experience and PostgreSQL
- Understanding of complete SDLC, facilitating new features up to production.
- Unit Testing, Integration and E2E testing.
Software Engineering Internship
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Go, Python, C/C++ or other common industry languages.
- Nice to have: Experience with React/Angular, Apollo GraphQL, Figma.
- Ability to demonstrate object-oriented, test-driven, and responsibility-driven design.

Expected Compensation
$20.00 - $60.00 + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
